Sci-Fi Research Lab
A downloadable asset pack
Sci-Fi Research Lab is a 32x32 side-scroller pack for building a whole research facility: white labs, server rooms, reactor halls and containment wings, ready for metroidvanias and platformers.
Labs go together wall by wall. Put up panels in four finishes, add sliding and blast doors, airlocks and lifts, line the benches with glassware and microscopes, fill the specimen tanks, wire up the terminals and server racks, then add the hazard signs, pipes, cables and clutter. When it all goes wrong there are alien eggs, goo, floor tentacles and alarm beacons for the breach. One flat side view, one light and one outline, so every piece sits next to every other.

Bundle deal: get this pack and every other side-scroller pack, 16x16 and 32x32, for $19.99 in the Complete Side-Scroller Pixel Art Collection (save over 90%).
What you get
- 1,303 props as single PNGs, sorted into 10 folders, plus one packed sheet per folder
- Specimen tanks, cryo pods and containment: 71 tanks, cages, holding cells, specimen jars, alien eggs, mutant plants and cocoons
- Computers and screens: terminals, wall monitors, server racks, consoles, mainframes, holo tables, keypads and card readers
- 134 animated props, 16 frames each: bubbling tanks, opening doors, blinking servers, holo tables, reactors, tesla coils, drones, teleporters, portals, forcefields, lasers and alarm beacons
- 181 tiles in 8 groups: floors, wall sets, 9-piece block sets, one-way platforms, ceilings, hazards, cave breaks and ladders
- 4 parallax backdrops with 5 layers each (480x270): lab, reactor, breach and caves
- 4 lab staff, each with an idle, a walk and one animation of their own
- 2 sample labs (normal shift and containment breach) and a metroidvania room, built only from this pack
- Every animation as a PNG strip, a preview GIF and a Godot 4 SpriteFrames file
- A JSON index with every name, folder, size, frame count and sheet rect
The same lab during a breach
Lights go to red alert, the eggs hatch and the goo spreads. Alarm beacons, blast doors, warning signs and broken glass are all there for when containment fails.

From the clean lab to the dark wing
White labs for the science, grey bulkheads for the halls and dark panels for the server rooms and the reactor floor. The wall sets share one height, so rooms run straight into each other.

Ready for metroidvanias
Block sets tile in any size, one-way platforms come as left, middle and right, and the acid pits, spikes, laser floors, conveyors, ladders and save stations make a level out of the facility.

4 lab staff, each with a quirk
- Ida, a chemist whose samples keep fizzing over and going off in her face
- Bo, a night guard who jumps clean out of his cap at every noise
- Unit-7, a maintenance robot that crashes, smokes and reboots mid-shift
- Hal, a hazmat tech who sprays everything, then fogs up his own visor

134 animated props
